AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The SpinRight After-School DJ Program is a hands-on music education experience designed specifically for middle school students in Orange County. Built by award-winning DJ and instructor Mixmaster Jash, this program introduces students to modern music creation through DJing, digital audio technology, and beat-making — all in a fun, structured, and supportive environment.
Unlike traditional music lessons, DJing empowers students to explore rhythm, timing, creativity, motor skills, and digital literacy using equipment they’re excited to learn on. It’s music education, reimagined for today’s generation.

ORIENTATION & EQUIPMENT SETUP
- Understanding the what DJ’s do and their place is the artistic landscape of artists.
- How to setup DJ gear: Controller, speakers, headphones, microphone, wiring.
- Learning basic controls, buttons, faders do in the simplest terms.

SONG STRUCTURE & TEMPO
- BPM - the heart rate of the song (EDM music 120 -128 bpm , Hip Hop 70-99 bpm, )
- Counting beats and understanding bars.
- Identify song sections : Intro, Verse. Chorus, Breakdown, Drop

BEAT MATCHING ESSENTIALS
- Learning how to sync tempos using without relying on auto-sync.
- Learning BPM's (beats per minute).
- Pitch Adjustments / Nudging.

MIX & CROSSFADER CONTROL
- Smooth transitions using crossfaders.
- Mixing with volume faders.
- Balancing Low End EQ during mixing.

CUE POINTS & LOOPING
- Preparing tracks for performance.
- Setting Cue Markers.
- Mix in and Mix out points

BASIC SCRATCHING & EFFECTS
- Baby Scratches, Echo, HPF LPF Filters.
- Adding creativity and your personal touch to your mix style.

SET BUILDING & FLOW
Finding music, organizing your library, preparing crates.

- Showcase 15-20 min performance.
- 1 on 1 Final Review.
